Federal style, tall case clock
This Federal style, tall case clock stands 8 ft 2 in tall and was built in England about 1750.  It was purchased by the client's father in Liverpool England in the mid 1950's and brought to the United States. Recently inherited by the client, the clock suffered shipping damage and detearation due to improper long term storage. Total restoration was required.  Federal style details include fine inlay, reeding, cock beads, and refined turnings. Both veneering and painting are used as ornament. In addition to being more geometric, Federal furniture is lighter and more delicate than preceding Victorian styles.
