The name, "Artisan Woodworkers" was registered in Gwinnett County, Georgia in 1989. The term artisan woodworkers is also used to describe individuals that have developed their skills in the art of wood crafting and professionally applied fine finishes. Gerry Thurston, a 3rd generation craftsman was taught at an early age the skills of cabinetry and classic furniture restoration. Gerry's father, Raymond Thurston, a professional home builder, general contractor and cabinetmaker, spent his career doing what he loved, designing, developing and working with fine wood. Gerry's grandfather, Loral Thurston, was a central Indiana farmer, one room school teacher and hobbyist in antique furniture restoration. |
