At age 11, she emigrated from France to the United States with her parents, Charles & Louise, in 1835.During the trip, her parents were stricken fatally ill and Lucille arrived at Ellis Island, New York, an orphan. To complete payment for passage, she was interned as an indentured servant until age 17. Upon release of service, she migrated west, met and married John Coons and settled in Moberly, Missouri. She raised nine children and established the first Antique and Import / Export business in the region near the Mississippi River. She maintained her store until she died at age 85.
